As we reflect on International Women’s Day, we are taking a moment to celebrate the incredible women who help keep the Wedgewood not just running, but truly thriving.

The Wedgewood was founded by the remarkable Eleni Skalbania, a visionary who built this hotel with determination and courage at a time when the hospitality industry was largely dominated by men. Her pioneering spirit set the foundation for everything we are today, and her legacy continues through her daughters and co-owners, Elpie Marinakis and Marousa Dumaresq, and granddaughter Eleni Marinakis-Jackson.

As a proudly female-owned and operated hotel, supporting women in leadership is deeply important to us. Today, more than 50% of our leadership roles are held by strong, talented women who guide and inspire our teams every day. From housekeeping to the front desk, Bacchus, and our executive leadership, these women bring professionalism, warmth, and dedication that make the Wedgewood such a special place.

Beyond our walls, we are committed to supporting women in our wider community. Through partnerships with female-focused charities and initiatives that champion women in leadership, we aim to uplift and empower women while striving to be an industry example of the enduring power of women in business.
